The National Education Association cordially invites you to join us in honoring the educators, individuals, community partners, and organization’s that are advancing and have carried the mantle for human and civil rights for students and communities across our nation.

The annual NEA Human and Civil Rights Awards is inextricably linked to the 1966 merger of the National Education Association and the American Teachers Association (ATA). ATA, which represented Black teachers in segregated schools, traditionally honored leaders in the justice and civil rights movement at an annual awards dinner. As a new merged Association, the NEA has proudly held to this tradition each year, celebrating leaders in racial justice, social justice, human and civil rights.

This year’s ceremony will not be held as a dinner banquet. The awards ceremony will be held in theatre-style with seats, and not tables, available for purchase. Individual and collective tickets will be available for purchase. Food and drink will also be available for purchase during the general reception. Attire is cocktail formal. Please email NEAHCRAwards@nea.org with any questions.

We look forward to seeing you there!
