 Indicators 123456789
KEY 2 - INDICATOR 3
Teachers and staff collaborate to remove barriers to student learnings.

This indicator measures the extent to which teachers cooperate across grade levels, subject areas, and departments to solve students’ problems. The indicator also measures whether staff feel prepared to address individual student differences and use staff meetings to solve problems.

DISCUSSION QUESTION
  1. What barriers would a school team face when working to have all teachers, administrators, education support professionals, other school employees, and your local affiliate work as a team that strives to have a positive impact on learning?

ACTIVITIES
  • As a school team, exchange ideas on how teachers prepare for and address the individual learning styles of students. NEA has a number of resources on learning styles, available either from the NEA Professional Library or on the web, that you may find useful (see the list of resources at the end of this section).

  • Consider how the school staff might better facilitate open communication and problem solving and remove barriers to student learning.

(See KEY 6 for further insights on understanding barriers to student learning.)
