.DID YOU KNOW In the next 7 minutes, a child in the U.S. will be bullied. It may be the son or daughter of someone you know. It may even be your own child. Meanwhile, only four in 100 adults will intervene. And only 11 percent of the child’s peers might do the same. The rest — 85 percent — will do nothing- Bullying is the NO. 1 Crisis Facing Children Today. It has infiltrated our homes, schools, communities and our children’s lives. The effects of bullying are far reaching, academic failure, teen suicide, school shootings, and mental health disorders; this epidemic has affected each and every one of us.

My primary goal is to provide support and current, accurate resources for educators, parents and community members regarding LGBT/SOGI youth. This group will provide an outlet to share stories or triumphs, teachable moments, myth busting, safe zone conversations, and most importantly to provide support for all LGBT/SOGI youth in a warm, welcoming environment. My hope is that one day children will NOT be defined by acronyms or labels, BUT instead defined by what is in their hearts and not by what is in their pants.
